At Tradewind, we are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant for a lovely primary school in the heart of Hackney. To support a child in Year 5 with behavioural issues and ADHD.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Provide support to the pupil on a 1:1 basis
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages the pupil to engage with their education.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement an individualised behaviour plan.
  • Support in developing social skills and managing their emotions effectively.
  • Foster and maintain a positive relationship, promoting their well-being and building trust.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the teaching staff and relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with parents/guardians, external agencies, and the wider school community to ensure effective communication and support for the pupil is carried through.

Requirements for the role:

  • Previous experience working with pupils who have challenging behaviour or have been excluded from mainstream schools is desirable.
  • A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with pupils.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with pupils facing emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of the pupils.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
