Chichester College has an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Premises Officer at our Brighton MET (Central) Campus. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basisand, in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £22,079 – £22,785 per annum.

The Premises Officer role:

Are you looking for that ideal maintenance, caretaking or premises-based role, in the convenient location of Central Brighton and Brighton Marina?

As our Premises Officer, you will provide a friendly and efficient service throughout the day to meet the campus operational needs, under the direct supervision of the Buildings and Facilities Manager and in collaboration with other Estates Team members. Our Premises Officer will provide a day-to-day response to maintenance and caretaking needs, as well as general college security duties and fire warden duties when required.

The Premises Team works on a split-shift basis during the week to cover all hours of college business. The shifts are worked on alternative weeks am/pm:

  • 6:00-14:00/13:30-21:30 Monday to Thursday
  • 6:00-13:30/11:00-18:30 Fridays.

Key Responsibilities of ourPremises Officer:

  • Day to day response and planned maintenance/caretaking duties, including Fire Warden duties when required.
  • Work on a two-shift pattern, as required, to support operations, based on early/late shift.
  • General College security, including Duty Security and Safety Steward duties.
  • Opening and closing of the College at specified times. 
  • Car parking supervision and directions.
  • Care and general oversight of all equipment associated with duties.
  • Receipt, recording, distribution, collection and despatch of goods for departments and other Courier duties.
  • Cleaning specified secure areas.
  • Moving furniture and equipment.
  • Keeping all walkways, internal and external, safe and free from hazards. De-icing footpaths as a high priority on icy mornings (before 8am).

Our ideal Premises Officer should have the below skills and experience:

  • General education to GCSE level grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Level 2 qualification in a building services trade
  • Relevant experience of working within maintenance or a building services environment
  • Hold a current First Aid Qualification (or be prepared to obtain)
  • Of maintenance in large commercial premises
  • The ability to travel between sites and to suppliers may be required
  • The ability to work co-operatively as part of a team as well as on own initiative with a pro-active approach to work
