Job Vacancy: Practice Learning Reviewer – Children’s Services

Location: Hybrid; travel to the Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP) area required for mandatory meetings and service requirements.
Contract: Fixed-term (duration: 12 months)
Salary: Competitive, Specialist Band L
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, with flexible and hybrid working options available by agreement.
Travel Requirements: Travel and accommodation costs are not reimbursable.

About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Practice Learning Reviewer to join the Quality Assurance team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in conducting high-quality audits, practice learning reviews, and writing detailed qualitative and quantitative analytical reports with actionable recommendations. This position is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about improving frontline practices and contributing to improved outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct thorough practice learning reviews (PLRs), including thematic reviews, dip samples, deep dives, and individual case record reviews.
Produce detailed analytical reports, combining qualitative and quantitative data, with clear findings and recommendations to improve professional practice and service delivery.
Engage children, young people, and their families to ensure their voices are reflected in PLRs and overall quality assurance activities.
Support the development of learning resources and materials from PLRs to enhance service quality.
Collaborate with practitioners, managers, and partners to gather insights and feedback to inform PLRs and Quality Assurance activities.
Stay informed about relevant legal and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Diploma in Social Work or equivalent; degree-level education required.
Relevant management qualification.
Extensive experience working across a range of children's services areas, such as early help, children in need, child protection, fostering, and adoption.
Strong experience in conducting various high-quality audits, thematic reviews, and practice learning reviews at pace.
Demonstrated ability to write detailed qualitative and quantitative reports with clear recommendations for improving services and practices.
Thorough understanding of the legislative and inspection frameworks within which children’s services operate.
Proficiency in using electronic case record systems (e.g., Mosaic, Care Director) and Microsoft Office.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, meeting tight deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce analytical reports and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage a demanding workload.
An open and transparent approach to leadership, using feedback constructively to improve practices.

Job Requirements

Social Work England (SWE) registration or equivalent.
A valid DBS check is required.
Must be able to travel to the BCP area using public or other forms of transport, or by holding a valid UK driving licence with access to own or pool car.
