Postgraduate Research Finance Officer

Are you a skilled financial professional looking for a new opportunity? Our client, a prestigious research institution in Brunswick, Manchester, is seeking a dynamic Postgraduate Research Finance Officer to join their team! As the successful candidate, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Senior Postgraduate Research Finance Officer and ensuring the smooth financial operations of postgraduate research awards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the operations of postgraduate research awards within an assigned portfolio
  • Act as a secondary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to Principal Investigators and Postgraduate Research Supervisors
  • Attend regular review meetings and ensure compliance with funding terms and conditions
  • Analyse financial data and provide forecasting and budgetary advice
  • Proactively manage workloads and prioritise conflicting deadlines
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and contribute to change initiatives
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection requirements
  • Promote equality, diversity, and the University's policies and procedures

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Studying towards a recognised CCAB professional accountancy qualification or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a finance environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong IT skills, including intermediate Excel skills and analytical abilities
  • High level of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Ability to grasp complex details and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, innovation, and self-motivation
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service
  • Organised with the ability to manage competing workloads
  • Proven team player with a positive and supportive attitude

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience with Oracle Financials software
  • Experience in higher education and/or research administration
  • Studying towards level 3 or 4 of the AAT qualification
