Are you passionate about the ongoing maintenance and improvement of manufacturing environments through electrical fault finding, maintenance, installation, and improvement activities?

At our British Gypsum manufacturing facility in Sherburn in Elmet, we are seeking a Plant Electrician. This a great opportunity to join a highly skilled team dedicated to the ongoing improvement and maintenance of our gypsum plaster production plant, where we manufacture GRG board, Plasterboard, and Coving products.

As Plant Electrician / Maintenance Engineer, you will join a highly skilled team tasked with delivering predominantly reactive maintenance with some preventative scheduled maintenance, some installation work, and supporting the ongoing improvement of plant equipment. Interacting with our wider engineering team and Production Operators, ensuring the plant is performing to optimal levels. You will be tasked with identifying solutions through fault finding, the application of root cause analysis, and the application of lean tools, while ensuring that safety protocols are always followed.

British Gypsum is one of 30 Saint-Gobain brand's and is a market-leading manufacturer of gypsum-based building materials from insulation, wall lining dry boards, and plaster to ceilings and floors. Our products shape modern interiors for the commercial, residential, and off-site sectors of the construction industry.

This is a full-time position based at our Sherburn-in-Elmet facility, predominantly working on days over Monday to Friday but with flexibility to support at weekends as required.

What we're looking for:

  • The applicant will ideally have served an electrical apprenticeship ideally qualified to HNC or demonstrate a minimum of NVQ3 electrical maintenance or comparable qualification with relevant industrial experience.
  • Experience in Professional Maintenance, with skills in fault finding and route cause analysis.
  • Computer literacy
  • A flexible and willing approach to working hours and deployment is essential
  • Attention to detail and persistence will be evident in the successful candidate
  • Experience in using permit-to-work systems and other safe systems of work such as conducting risk assessments and method statements.
  • Experience in using a CMMS system and contributing to writing maintenance planning.
  • Fault finding skills in Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLC systems will be an advantage
