Reed Further Education are looking for a Placement Officer to work with a college based in Birmingham. They will support the faculty in finding work experience for learners on Health and Social Care and Childcare programmes. The role in temporary until June 28th and the working days are Mon-Fri 30 hours a week.

The college is based in the Small Heath area of Birmingham, however there is some flexibility for the person to be able to work from other campuses across Birmingham and travel to the campus in Small Heath when required. Furthermore travel will be required to student workplaces as and when required.

Job Title: Placement Officer

Position: 30 hours Mon-Fri

Role type: Temporary until June 28th

Location: Small Heath, Birmingham

Rate: £15p/h - £20p/h including holiday pay

Day to Day of the role:

  • Identifying suitable placements that meet course requirements, college placement criteria, and safeguarding conditions.
  • Building and maintaining a network of employers to provide placement opportunities and foster long-term relationships.
  • Conducting health & safety compliance checks during placement visits.
  • Recording student placements and providing feedback to students, tutors, and placement providers.
  • Supporting learners in class to prepare for placement when necessary.
  • Contributing to learners’ target setting in collaboration with tutors and employers.
  • Undertaking DBS disclosure applications and providing guidance and support.
  • Liaising with tutors/coordinators to identify specific course requirements for placements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with young people age 16-19 is highly desirable.
  • Experience or knowledge of Health and Social Care sector highly desirable.
  • Ability to build relationships and network with employers.
  • Experience of relationship management and coordinating with stakeholders
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new DBS
  • Full and valid UK driving licence as travel between campuses and workplaces is required.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
