PHP Developer

Robert Half is pleased to have been engaged on a retained basis to recruit a remote PHP Developer for TDi Software - experts in providing intuitive SaaS products to the transport industry throughout the UK. This is a terrific opportunity for a passionate developer to gain exposure to some exciting technologies, while working autonomously as part of a small, tight-knit team. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can make it on-site to their Chesterfield office at least once a month, for training and meetings.

TDi Software have been providing expert tachograph analysis and transport compliance solutions for over 30 years for both large and small clients in the haulage and logistics sectors.

They strive to remain at the forefront of innovation with their in-house development team, to bring customers new products and software features to stay on top of the ever-changing legislation of transport compliance.

Their software offerings are cloud hosted (AWS), allowing all their software to be accessed at anytime, anywhere, on any device.

Role

As a PHP Developer with TDi, you will be an integral part of the team, responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and improving the various key systems developed in-house. Your primary focus will be to ensure the smooth operation of systems, working alongside the Technical Director to resolve issues and continuously improve software. Some of your key responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Develop efficient, testable, and reusable code.
  • Create and maintain internal APIs for communication between key pieces of software.
  • Monitor error reports for issues impacting users.
  • Assist in the current upgrade of legacy code to Symfony framework.
  • Communicate with a variety of stakeholders to gather requirements.

Your Profile:

Competencies:

  • Positive "can do" attitude with great communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking and ability to proactively solve problems.
  • Ability to work well as an individual and as part of a team.

Technical skills:

  • 2+ years commercial development experience with PHP
  • Experience with Symfony framework
  • Familiarity with relational databases technologies, such as PostgreSQL.
  • Basic knowledge of front-end technologies (i.e. JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS, etc)
  • Experience creating and consuming REST APIs.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of any cloud technologies, preferably AWS

Salary & Benefits

The PHP Developer will receive a salary of circa £50,000, the opportunity to work on a remote basis (at least once a month in the Chesterfield office), plus a host of other benefits.
