Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a Global Manufacturing Group based in North Herefordshire to recruit a dynamic and hands-on Payroll Supervisor, initially on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Offering remote/office hybrid working the position will support the Head of Payroll and Payroll team in delivering a high level of service and operational advice to all payroll processes within the Group. Manage and co-ordinate daily payroll related duties and processes, as well as supporting payroll related projects including process improvement. This 12-month fixed term contract is open to experienced Payroll Supervisors or Senior Payroll Officers who are looking to take a step-up in their career.


Your new role


Key duties will involve managing day-to-day queries from the payroll team, in addition to supporting their development, providing an effective payroll administrative service to all companies within the group, running allocated payrolls, and creating payroll journals liaising with the finance team as necessary to effect payment. You will be involved in month-end duties relating to payroll, including associated paperwork to HMRC standards, checking wage sheets and compiling payroll data, applying salary adjustments including overtime payments, pension payments, and holiday pay. You will oversee the time and attendance system, process starters/leavers, and provide an advisory service to all employees on all payroll queries. You will support the payroll manager in the continuous improvement of payroll systems, processes, and policies, and support the wider HR team in achieving business objectives.


What you'll need to succeed


To be considered for this hands-on Payroll Supervisor role, you will need experience within a similar position, strong knowledge, understanding, and practical application of payroll legislation and key payroll systems experience. You will be confident at delivering feedback and have good communication skills to build both internal/external relationships, experience of working effectively in a team environment, with excellent attention to detail. You will be proficient in the use of MS Excel and be able to manage workloads to meet time-constraint deadlines. Experience within the manufacturing sector, supervising/coaching others within the team, knowledge of time/attendance software and Zellis payroll system would be advantageous but not essential.
