Job description

This is a unique opportunity for a well-qualified accountant with previous payroll accounting experience to join Uppingham School on a full-time basis.

As a Pensions and Payroll Accountant, you will prepare and post monthly payroll journals and ensure payroll related payments are made on a timely basis. You will prepare annual salary budgets and projections, reconciling payroll output and investigating and informing the Finance Controller of any developing financial risks.

You will also provide all administration for a final salary pension scheme and supply salary data and returns for statutory accounts disclosures, annual benchmarking surveys, ONS surveys and annual Group Life insurance renewal.

You will act as cover when the Payroll and Pensions Supervisor is absent, including running the payroll on iTrent.
We are looking for a personable, supportive and flexible individual, with excellent organisation and communication skills. You will be a part qualified accountant actively working towards an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification. You will possess recent experience of payroll accounting, as well as knowledge of iTrent or another integrated HR/payroll system. You will demonstrate a strategic and commercial mindset, including an understanding of data analysis, budgeting and business operations. Strong IT and MS Office skills, particularly in the use of MS Excel is essential.
