Sheridan Maine is working in partnership with our client, based in Coleshill, to secure a Payroll Officer to join their team. This presents an excellent opportunity for candidates with more than three years of payroll experience in a fast-paced in-house payroll setting.

As a member of the Finance Department, the chosen candidate will play a vital role in assisting employees with their daily inquiries and managing the monthly payroll for the company, which currently has over 200 employees and is projected to grow to over 250 by the end of the year.

Your responsibilities as the Payroll Officer will include:
  • Collaborating with HR, Finance, and senior stakeholders to implement payroll automation and drive change
  • Processing high-volume monthly payroll within deadlines as part of a team
  • Handling payroll data for new hires, departures, and changes, including SSP, SMP/SPP, and student loans
  • Managing salary sacrifice schemes and processing sick and holiday pay
  • Adjusting pay and managing the Payroll inbox
  • Administering pensions and addressing related queries and opt-outs
  • Handling P11D car processing and staying updated on payroll legislation
  • Supporting reconciliation with HMRC and addressing payroll queries
  • Maintaining stakeholder relationships and participating in projects like ERP integration and payroll system enhancements

The Payroll Officer will require the following skills and experience:
  • Proficient in Sage Payroll
  • 3+ years in fast-paced, in-house payroll
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong collaborator and relationship-builder
  • Highly organised and deadline-driven
  • Effective communicator at all levels
  • Self-motivated with strong time management
  • Able to build a strong working relationship with the in house HR department
