Payroll Assistant
  • Location: Maidstone
  • Job Type: Permanent and Full Time
  • Salary: £27,000 - £32,000pa
  • Working Arrangements:  Office Based

Reed Accountancy is on the lookout for a diligent Payroll Assistant to join our client’s team in Maidstone. This pivotal role ensures the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all permanent staff, including those paid on a weekly and monthly basis. The successful candidate will be adept at calculating commissions, managing leave records, and maintaining compliance with current payroll legislation.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Accurately process payroll for weekly and monthly paid staff.
  • Calculate sales commissions and holiday entitlements.
  • Manage records for sickness, maternity/paternity leave.
  • Ensure tax codes and payroll documentation such as P45, P46, and P60 forms are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Liaise with agencies for day rate workers to facilitate smooth payroll processing.
  • Handle administrative tasks for starters and leavers, including issuing letters for pay rises.
  • Attend disciplinary meetings to take notes and provide administrative support.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in payroll administration.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation and tax codes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and proficiency in writing professional correspondence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the business.
