Accountancy Recruit is partnering with a small, yet fast-growing FMCG manufacturer, at a time of scaling up, based in Woodbridge, Suffolk in the recruitment of a Part Time Management Accountant (25 hours p/w) for a 6-month contract.

2023 has seen this organisation significantly expand its customer base and manufacturing capabilities. Further growth expected over the coming years has created the need for this new role of a Management Accountant reporting to the Managing Director. You will be hands-on to ensure that the finance function plays a leading role in a number of important areas including improving management information and profitability reporting, commercial analysis and processes and ensuring adherence to financial timetables and internal controls.

Key monthly accounting responsibilities

  • Review of month end accounts, including aged debt reporting to ensure accuracy.
  • Monthly management accounts.
  • Cash flow forecasting.
  • Review stock take adjustments monthly - understand and challenge.
  • Extract and ratify company credit card transactions and employee expenses monthly.
  • Monthly overhead spend review with budget holders.
  • Lead the quarterly re forecast process and annual budgeting process (during Sept - Dec).
  • Support any updates to the 5-year business plan.

Ongoing responsibilities of the role

  • Ensure all inputs to the management information are up to date - for e.g. COGs rates.
  • Oversight of purchase and sales ledger.
  • Weekly payment run approval.
  • Control of bank accounts using an online link to NatWest.
  • Finance Business Partner to the Managing Director and across the business.
  • Commercial analysis / scenario planning (for costs e.g. assessing efficiencies potential with distribution partners and sales e.g. SKU mix and pricing analysis).
  • Customer and product profitability.
  • Future Fund report submission (quarterly).
  • Supporting on wastage reporting: costs/causes (breakages and undelivered goods analysis).
  • Modelling and support with production demand planning etc.

Things to establish in the role

  • Improve expenditure visibility - establish processes / PO system.
  • Support integration between QuickBooks and the manufacturing/stock system.

Person specification:

  • Significant hands-on experience of running routine monthly accounts and financial processes.
  • Ideally MAAT or above, but relevant experience matters more than qualifications.
  • Ideally would have manufacturing experience so that cost management and stock take etc are familiar.
  • Proficient in Excel including pivot tables, lookup and sumif calculations.
  • Self-motivated to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Happy in the detail and overseeing the broader picture.
  • Deadline driven and tenacious.
  • Very happy asking questions and a confident communicator.

Remuneration

Fixed term: 6 months with potential for permanent

Hours: Part-time. Est. 25 hours a week

Location: Based at the brewery in Rendlesham. Potential for some home working.

Salary: £35 - 40,000 pro rata.

Holiday: Full time holiday allowance is 25 days pa. plus bank holidays. This would be pro-rata depending on weekly hours agreed.

Pension: Auto enrolment with contributions in line with government guidelines after the probationary period is cleared.
