Working for a charitable organisation, this is a newly created role which will report to the CFO and lead the strategic direction for the finance department. Focus will be on driving and overseeing effective and high-quality financial planning, leading and developing the finance team, strategic financial planning, forecasting and risk management. You will collaboratively with other areas of the charity, ensuring a joined-up approach, embedding change, and developing efficient and effective new ways of working, with continuous improvement.

The role

  • To lead and manage the finance team
  • Be an effective and active part of the SMT, being involved in key decisions concerning the planning, implementation, review, and impact of strategic plans
  • Implement financial controls, policies, and procedures including planning, budgeting, income generation, expenditure and reporting
  • Develop the annual budget and financial forecasting
  • Oversee cashflow management
  • Report to the SMT on progress against the strategic plan including forecasting

About you

You will be a qualified accounting professional - AAT/ACCA/ACA/CIMA - with a relevant qualification in Management and/or Leadership (or willingness to work towards). Knowledge of charity accounting and accounts preparation under SORP will be key, along with experience of overseeing payroll and leading and developing cohesive teams. You will be able to work well under pressure, be a skilled communicator who can demonstrate strategic results
