Paraplanner, The Role: I am recruiting an experienced Paraplanner to join the team at Mercury Wealth Management, an independent Accredited and Chartered Financial Planning firm based in Stockton-on-Tees (TS18). This is a great opportunity for a diploma qualified Paraplanner (DipPFS) to be involved in client meetings and develop their technical expertise and professional qualifications, while working alongside highly experienced Financial Planners, with the support required to become Chartered and Certified and the opportunity to progress into advising, if that is where your career aspirations lie. The successful Paraplanner will be responsible for technical research, cash flow modelling, attending meetings alongside the Financial Planners with high-net-worth clients, producing recommendations and supporting with the building and implementation of the financial planning solutions required to meet a variety of clients’ needs and personal goals.

Salary and Benefits: up to £40,000 basic salary (dependant on experience) + bonus (up to 10% of salary) + benefits including 35 days holiday (including bank holidays and 3 days holiday between Christmas and New Year) + pension + life insurance + medical insurance + electric car scheme + flexible working hours + ongoing professional training and development + hybrid working (up to 2 days a week from home, once established).

They have a small but highly qualified team of Certified and Chartered Financial Planners who provide expert holistic advice and are committed to delivering a first-class service. The business is thriving on a reputation for excellence (95% of their clients come via recommendation) and they have ambitious growth plans, hoping to triple the number of clients that they help by 2030. They don’t have everything worked out, but they have a shared commitment to success and will need your help in moving forward on their journey.

Paraplanner, Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Financial Planners to deliver a highly personalised holistic financial planning service to a select group of clients.
  • Attend client meetings with the Financial Planners and keep in regular communication with clients, by telephone, email and letter.
  • Produce excellent standards of client work including compliant recommendations and reports.
  • Undertake technical research for both client work and personal development.
  • Analyse portfolios, benchmarking, rebalancing and on-going portfolio maintenance.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to the support team, ensuring the highest levels of client service are delivered.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of developments in legislation, investment and technology.
  • Contribute to development of best practice within the Financial Planning Team and wider firm initiatives.

Paraplanner, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 12 months’ paraplanning experience.
  • Diploma in Financial Planning (Dip PFS)
  • Preferably working towards or keen to study for Certified/Chartered Financial Planner qualifications (support with this will be provided).
  • Knowledge in all areas of financial planning (investment and wealth management, pensions and retirement planning, protection, inheritance and tax planning etc), ideally with experience of cashflow modelling and working with high-net-worth clients.
  • A strong technology and mathematical aptitude.
  • A strong relationship builder and collaborative team player with a customer centric approach.
