Company Background
A law firm set in up in 2010, specialising in the criminal sphere with cases ranging from petty theft all the up to murder cases, meaning that you could be going to either the magistrates court or crown court. Their director has fronted several national scale cases. They have grown exponentially in size since 2010 so are looking for a new paralegal to help with the case load.
The role
The main aim of the role is to spread the current case load along with potentially moving on to a training contract with the firm and fully qualify as a lawyer for the correct candidate. You will dealing with building cases up for clients ready to go to trail, analysing the law materials such as statements and evidence. You will also gain valuable experience in a working law office so is ideal for a graduate looking to head into world of law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer and direct phone calls.
- Organise and schedule appointments.
- Plan meetings and take detailed minutes.
- Write and distribute emails, letters, and forms including dictation.
- Assist in the preparation of cases
- Develop and maintain a case management system
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Conduct legal research and analyse findings to assist with case preparation
- Liaise with clients, opposing parties and professionals to collect evidence
- Organise files
- Assist with scheduling court hearings and meetings
- Attend court, taking thorough notes
- Adhere to professional standards and uphold confidentiality
- Conduct initial consultations
Key Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills
- Committed to supporting clients
- Fast learner
- Experience in a criminal legal environment is preferable but training will be provided.
