Our well established client has a fantastic opportunity for you to start or continue a legal career working in a national law firm. Based in their Debt Recovery Team dealing with the recovery of sums owed to their clients in their Taunton Office.

Most of our people choose to work in a hybrid fashion, working from home and attending our offices on occasion. Their offices are in Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton, and Taunton.

Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:

You will be working on for a team dealing with over 180 different clients, acting for them in the recovery of sums owed. You will be responsible for maintaining your own caseload, undertaking telephone collections, including some defended matters (training will be provided), prioritising tasks, developing and maintaining client relationships.

This may involve:

  • Having a case load of varied debt recovery matters from different clients
  • Telephone Collections
  • Taking on and learning how to deal with small, fast and multitrack claims
  • Reviewing the prospects of each case and advising client
  • Issuing Court proceedings, enforcing Judgments and considering insolvency action where appropriate
  • Liaising with clients, the Court, agents and debtors on a daily basis
  • Dealing with the every day admin of the caseload including Court documentation and all correspondence received
  • Taking payments from our client’s customers
  • Settlement negotiations
  • Maintaining a high level of client care and building on existing relationships

It is a fast-paced role and you will need to juggle many priorities. You will need to be flexible to be an effective team player, but you will also get support and training from your colleagues and manager in a relaxed but professional and hard-working team.

It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.

Experience:
Whatever your background, you will have strong written and verbal communication skills, a good level of basic numeracy and plenty of common sense.
Required:
• 6 GCSE at grade C or above (or equivalent) including English and Maths
• be keen to research any industry changes and keep up to date with new developments in our sector
• have gained at least 6 months’ experience in an office environment
• have used case management systems or databases in the past
• have experience on dealing with the public either face to face or verbally over the telephone

Ideal:
• have a Law degree or Common Professional Examination/Graduate Diploma in Law (CPE/GDL)
• have litigation experience
• have debt recovery experience
