JOB TITLE: PARALEGAL - PRIVATE CLIENT

HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9am - 5:30pm Monday to Friday

Main Purpose of the role:

We seek a Private Client Paralegal to work within a well-established, highly reputable and successful department. Do you have experience in Probate, Wills and Estate Planning? Or are you a Paralegal seeking a career in Private Client? If so, we would welcome your CV as this role is an excellent opportunity to join an established team that covers comprehensive estate planning services, including Wills and Will reviews, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Appoint Executors and Guardian, Discretionary Trust, Court Protection, Inheritance Tax Planning, Trusts, Probate and Estate Administration, Inheritance and Will disputes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities for the Paralegal role:

  • Providing Paralegal support to the team.
  • Dealing with Wills, general legal correspondence and assisting with the administration of Estates
  • Proof-read all documentation and make any amendments before being handed to the Solicitor.
  • Extensive client liaison - dealing with general queries via the telephone on behalf of the Solicitors, taking accurate telephone messages and, where possible, acting thereon
  • Diary Management
  • Ensure all information on the database is completed and accurate
  • Preparation of documents, including Court Bundles for Solicitors and Counsel
  • Diary management - ensure all appointments are diarised and the Partner does not miss any dates, deadlines or tasks
  • Responsible for closing, archiving and retrieval of files
  • Having direct client contact via telephone, email and face-to-face
  • Ensure all relevant documents and enclosures are attached to the correct file before posting
  • Working under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • At all times, comply with all relevant legislation and regulations as directed by the firm (e.g. client confidentiality, anti-money laundering, Solicitors’ Regulation Authority and The Law Society rules, Solicitors’ Accounts Rules, Data Protection Act, etc.)
  • Ensuring departmental systems and firm-wide procedures are followed.

Person Specification required for the Paralegal role:

  • Private client experience is preferred, but other areas would also be considered.
  • Strong admin skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Calm under pressure
  • Organised
  • Articulate
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work under pressure to set deadlines
  • Willingness to work well as part of a busy, friendly team
  • Have an excellent telephone manner
