This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Paralegal to join a thriving team within a leading Professional Services firm, based in Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Description

You will have the opportunity to experience a wide range of work as follows:

  • Dealing with the administration of trusts, in particular, personal injury trusts, to include dealing with beneficiaries' requests, correspondence with trustees and preparation for the annual trustees' meetings.
  • Dealing with guardianship administration to include managing income and expenditure and reporting to the Office of the Public Guardian as necessary.
  • Dealing with the administration of executries (including high value taxable estates).
  • Assisting in asset protection and capital gains tax mitigation in relation to trusts and executries.
  • Preparation of wills and powers of attorney.
  • Keeping in regular contact with clients by telephone, email and general correspondence.
  • Working effectively with all members of the private client team including partners, solicitors, other paralegals, trust and tax accountants.
  • Maintaining excellent financial management of own cases.
  • The team is committed to maintaining expertise at the forefront of our field which may mean developing skills or being involved in additional areas of the law.
  • Be aware of information security policies, and protect information assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times.

Profile

  • Previous experience of working in a private client team is essential. Candidates with experience in administering executries and trusts and drafting wills and powers of attorney are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work to strict deadlines.
  • Committed to the highest level of client care and service.
  • Committed to taking personal responsibility to learn on the job and keep knowledge up to date.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Communicates in a confident, clear and relaxed way.
  • Adapts style of communication appropriately when dealing with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Genuine interest and enthusiasm for private client work.
  • Case management and IT skills are beneficial but support and training in systems will be given.
