Job purpose

  • Reporting to the spray and goods out production manager, the role to manage the complete process of spraying within the workshop.
  • The role will include spray application predominantly in the spray booth or occasionally assisting with the semi-automatic spray machine. 
  • It is a key role in terms of delivering quality sprayed products for the business.
  • Responsibilty with include equiptment maintenance as well as some management of the stock of paint products.

Key responsibilities

Spraybooth

  • Ensure that all parts to spray are prepared to thecorrect level of quality to ensure a good quality finish product.
  • Check if there is any specific requirement to match to a specified sample.
  • In line with the specification of the paint product provided, spray all the parts as prioritised by the spray and goods out team leader ensuring that correct number of coats and product weight are applied, recommended drying times are maintained and the paint is applied to the correct surfaces.
  • Monitor and control the quality of the finished product to make sure that it is at the required standards. Report back and concerns you may have.
  • Ensure the parts are well prepared in between process to guarantee the best possible finish. 
  • Ensure that the paint is mixed properly and in the recommended ratios.
  • Ensure that all the equiptment is correctly cleaned and maintained at all time. 

Spray machine

  • In line with the specification of the paint product provided, set-up the spray machine as per spraying plan issued by the spray goods out team leader ensuring that machine setting reflects the recommendation of the finishing applied.
  • Assist in managing the team of people allocated to the spray machine in making sure that you are fully supported in delivering the required output.
  • Monitor and control the quality of the finished product coming out of the machine to make sure that it is at the required standards. 
  • Optimise the spray machine output in collaboration with Spary Goods out team leader to maximise the work being carried out. 
  • Ensure the parts are well prepared prior to spraying and in between process to guarantee the best possible finish.
  • Ensure that the newly painted parts are left drying in a safe dust free enviroment. 
  • Ensure that the paint is mixed properly and in the recommended ratios. 
  • Ensure that the machine is regulary maintained and fully cleaned at the end of each shift in order to keep an optimised paint finish.

General duties

  • Challenge current ways of working to increase shopfloor efficiency.
  • Ensure factory housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained at all times. 
  • Wear and use correct PPE.
  • Ensure enviromental standards are maintained at all times. 
  • Assist with other business manufacturing processes whenever required. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in spray finish of timber based products.
  • Knowledge of paint and timber material specification is necessary.
  • Knowledge in paint spraying different paint products such as AC paint, water base, PU paint, fire rated paint is necessary.
  • Previous experience in working on a semi-automatic spray machine would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience in working in a factory enviroment would be an advantage.
