Packing Fitter

We are looking for a Packing Fitter to join our Castleford site.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor on a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for providing mechanical maintenance services to all machinery and equipment used for the packing of sugar confectionery.  

You will have key relationships with other departments including but not limited to; Production, Packing, HSE, Technical Services and Engineering.

Some of the key accountabilities and responsibilities of the role are;
- Completing jobs in line with the Preventative maintenance schedule
- Responding quickly and effectively to all breakdowns
- Preparing machines in line with the planning schedule including carrying out changeover where required
- Ensuring all activities are carried out in line with the standards expected in the food industry
- Carrying out project/installation work as requested
- Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with any Permit to Works, Job recording, fire alarm muting, Health & Safety and hygiene set system of work
- To complete fabrication work including milling, turning, welding, pneumatics and hydraulics

Ingredients that you bring with you:

- Mechanical Apprenticeship is essential
- A manufacturing background with experience of case packers and palletising systems is essential
- Practical problem solving skills
- Good communication skills 
- The ability to make decisions under pressure
- Good IT skills
- Installation and commissioning of packing machinery is essential

Hours of Work:

This role is 40 hours per week on an alternating shift pattern and is based at our Castleford site.
