Main Purpose of the Role:

We're seeking an enthusiastic Outdoor Learning Coordinator with a strong team spirit and a genuine passion for outdoor education. In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive Outdoor Learning curriculum, fostering collaboration with colleagues and providing tailored support to students across various age groups.

Key Duties:

  • Designing an engaging outdoor learning curriculum tailored to the diverse needs of our students, incorporating horticulture, sustainable practices, and practical sustainability.
  • Collaborating with teachers to create cross-curricular outdoor learning opportunities, enhancing students' educational experiences.
  • Taking the lead on our school's Eco-Schools Award group and accreditation process.
  • Delivering Land-based units and vocational qualifications as part of our BTEC vocational Award qualification.
  • Facilitating outdoor learning experiences that promote independence, creativity, and social interaction among students.
  • Offering guidance to teachers in integrating outdoor learning opportunities into their lesson plans and evaluating their effectiveness.
  • Monitoring student progress in outdoor learning, providing constructive feedback, and adjusting teaching strategies as necessary.

Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Experience working with children or young people with Autistic Spectrum Condition and SEMH.
  • Knowledge of EHCP process and experience in delivering provision through it.
  • Proficiency in horticulture, gardening, or permaculture design, emphasising organic and sustainable growing methods.
  • Ability to develop seasonal outdoor learning sessions and adapt them to different learning needs.
  • Understanding of the connections between PSHE and outdoor learning.
  • Documentation and evaluation skills for tracking session effectiveness.
  • Previous experience working with KS2 to KS5 pupils in an outdoor learning context.
