Joining our highly skilled, Water Quality team, you'll provide expert senior scientific advice to the business and manage scientific projects.

Without you, we risk water quality deteriorating, leading to us not being able to deliver our vital resource to our millions of customers. ?

You'll guarantee delivery of effective and efficient water quality optimisation to the business, together with representing the water quality viewpoint. As you work to ensure there is a grasp on efficiency benefits, you'll support the business in achieving targets in relation to company costs and quality.

There are various exciting projects that you will be a part of, such as;

  • Proactive investigation, root cause analysis and solution engineering for unforeseen water quality changes at water treatment works

  • Water quality improvements to maintain works output and allow production volumes to fluctuate in line with demand

  • Water quality expertise to support our Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA), a complex and challenging major infrastructure project to secure resilient water supplies to our region

  • Ensuring our water treatment works are optimised to have a robust response to new and emerging contaminants

What does it take to be an Optimisation and Development Scientist?

  • Educated to a minimum of degree level or equivalent in a relevant scientific subject

  • Proven ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to take ownership of and manage scientific projects

  • Considerable experience of water process science, water quality customer service and public health issues with demonstrable expertise in water treatment and distribution

  • Ability to think and operate strategically and tactically

  • Proven training and coaching ability

  • A full driving licence is essential.
