Job Title - Construction Specialist

Location - Dartford, Kent

Salary - £70k - £90k plus car allowance

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager who will be responsible for the leading and implementation of our clients operational and safety strategies.

The successful candidate will monitor and evaluate processes and company resources to maximise efficiency and increases productivity whilst maintaining excellent standards of health and safety.

You will also be responsible for managing a team of Project/Contract Managers for the safe operational delivery of all Projects and Contracts within the time budgets, to specification and to highest quality standards.

Key Duties

-Participate as a member of the Management Team in formulating and executing Operational strategies, plans and budgets to ensure corporate goals are achieved.

-Acts as a leader, coach, and mentor to the Operations Teams, supporting high performance and addressing any areas of low performance.

-Manage the performance and accountability of the Project/Contracts Managers Team, ensuring regular review and feedback meetings take place, with clear reporting lines and accountabilities for each operative.

-Overview whole project schedule to provide workflow continuity and consistency balanced effectively between all Project/Contract Managers and Site Managers/Supervisors.

-Assignment of new contracts to the best suited Project/Contract Manager for effective delivery and balance of workload.

-Leadership of the schedules and allocation of labour resource; promoting and driving efficiency of labour resource use across all projects and contracts.

-Assistance and provision of experienced strategic advice and support to overcome project challenges and client disputes.

-Oversee training and development of the Operations team, promoting continuous development.

-Ensure all contracts are delivered within programme, time allowance and budget.

-Work closely with the Commercial Team to ensure the delivery of projects in line with agreed deadlines and to specified budgets.

-Facilitate consistent and effective communications throughout the operational teams.

-Ensure on-site teams represent the Company to agreed standards and in line with the Company values.

-Management of the recruitment process for employed and contracted resource within operations department to ensure optimum manpower at all times and minimise downtime.

-Oversee efficient and effective day-today labour schedules and resource management.

-Management of the operational department in accordance with Company’s Policies including Health & Safety, Compliance, Quality, etc.

-Uphold a high standard of Health & Safety compliance throughout the organisation.

-Maintain positive relationships with client teams throughout contract delivery.

-Create scalable standard operating procedures that allow the Company to hit operational targets and support future growth.

-Seek, research, analyse and present opportunities for operational efficiencies, including the digitalising and automating processes.

-Drive continuous improvement and implementation of processes and systems to improve efficiency, save costs and increase profitability.

-Work with the Managing Director to recommend and evaluate advancements in capital expenditure on machinery, equipment, vehicle, and premises assets.

Key Performance Indicators:

Gross Profit performance of Projects and Contracts recorded monthly.

Productivity of labour and resource expenditure within budget allowances.

Full compliance to H&S and regulatory standards.

A diligent and productive culture maintained throughout the whole operational team.

Positive client feedback with no customer complaints remaining unresolved.

Key Skills Required:

Strong management skills with ability to engage the team and drive results.

Ability to lead, coach and mentor with authoritative humility.

Attitude for solutions and continuous improvement.

Experience in project management of JCT contracts.

Experience in resource planning for planned and reactive maintenance.

Knowledge in the Civils and Landscape industry.

Experience with Operational systems, H&S, and ISO.

Capability to provide client confidence in commercial relationships.
