An Operations Business Partner is sought by thriving City Insurer for Underwriting and Distribution. This role will act as go-to person on all operational topics (Operations Delivery, Change, Data, Operations Excellence). In this role you will identify areas of improvement (both transformational and business-as-usual), ensure alignment between Operations and the respective business and functional strategies and enable an open way of collaboration and exchange both ways. You will collaborate with the relevant business and functional leaders to execute the strategy and the respective operating model to achieve the defined goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with the Underwriting & Distribution community as the key interface, to develop awareness and knowledge of their priorities, business drivers and internal/external factors which will support achieving strategic goals
  • Maintaining awareness across Operations to align priorities and objectives for Underwriting & Distribution
  • Keeping affected executives and other Operations team members aware, educated on and invested in activities within Underwriting & Distribution
  • Creating cross functional portfolio plans (both transformational and business-as-usual) that connect with other business units to identify interdependencies and/or conflicts
  • Engage with business subject matter experts, Operations and IT resources with the appropriate support structure
  • Support in devising, implementing and continually improving organisational design
  • Working closely with the Operations Delivery team, drive key operational and process improvement initiatives to ensure business operations deliver business outcomes
  • Deliver long-range strategic plans through alignment of strategy, structure, processes, people
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including underwriters, actuaries, claims, and senior management, to understand their data requirements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement
  • Key contributor to data-driven initiatives, ensuring that data is leveraged strategically to drive business growth and competitiveness.
  • Holistic view of all topics to ensure maximum use of resource, budget and teams across multiple initiatives to prevent duplication and understand impacts for data teams and gaps in spend

Key requirements:

  • Significant exposure within the Insurance industry, especially with Underwriting
  • A proven track record in delivering a suite of strategic planning and business transformation consulting services, specifically with underwriting & distribution experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of the London market and Lloyd’s environment
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Lloyd’s Principles for Doing Business.
  • Understanding of business strategy and the work of the other departments within the organisation.
  • Exemplary stakeholder engagement
  • Awareness of the considerations and requirements driven by insurance laws, regulations and other governance bodies across a variety of geographies, lines of business and distribution channels
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects, initiatives and BAU topics across multiple parts of the business to deliver strategic objectives in accordance with set deadlines
  • Attention to detail and strives for accuracy and data quality
  • Result focused, self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic
  • Ability to interact and negotiate with both internal and external parties

Qualifications:

  • BA degree or equivalent; MBA a plus.
  • CII advantageous
