This role requires an experienced operation risk manager with more than 5 years' experience in similar financial services and servicing/operational roles. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Business Risk in the UK and act as a primarily contact for Risk and Control matters for local senior management and work with BRM Global and Functionally aligned teams located across State Streets global footprint. They will be responsible for effective FLOD Business Risk Management for UK Contracted Clients covering Global Delivery, Chief Commercial Office and UK Legal Entity requirements.
The role can be based in Edinburgh or London.

The current remit of Business Risk Management (BRM) in the UK is to provide a wholistic view of Risk and Control matters via a robust FLOD Risk Framework.

What you will be responsible for:

As Business Risk Management (BRM) Manager, you will
  • Be responsible for effective FLOD Business Risk Management for UK Contracted Clients covering Global Delivery, Chief Commercial Office and UK Legal Entity requirements. To achieve this outcome the in country BRM team will work across global, functional and local BRM teams to provide a consolidated view of all relevant risk and control matters to enable local regulatory requirements to be met and operational risks understood.
  • Implement and execute on a robust, industry-standard risk management framework for the activities in the location, in alignment with the methodology and practices employed globally by BRM. As the UK representative, address UK specific regulations and LE requirements in the global BRM discussions and ensure they are considered in the risk management programs.
  • Act in an advisory capacity and ensure the accurate and timely reporting of risk information to management to make informed risk decisions. This includes, but is not limited to Issues Management, Incident Management, Risk Assessment (RCSA / LERA), Risk Reporting, Key Risk Indicators, Process and Control Reviews, Client Reporting, Due Diligence, Policy and Regulatory Change.
  • Become a valued partner to our Business by providing input/advising on risk and controls as relates to the specific business function and/or legal entity. Understand the needs of senior management to actively and effectively drive results and outputs that are in line with the business risk management framework. Drive a risk culture of timely identification and escalation.
  • Lead and provide managerial support to individuals in direct reporting line.
  • Act as Depute for local Head of Business Risk.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within a Risk or Compliance based / financial services role
  • Operational Risk Management experience or qualifications
  • Knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks and obligations
  • Knowledge of UK products with a focus on Back and Middle Office, example Custody, Fund Accounting
  • Ability to lead a team
