Oceanfreight Supervisor

Freightserve recruitment are looking for a Oceanfreight Supervisor for a major Freight Forwarder based in the Heathrow area.

The Ocean Freight Supervisor will play a vital role in the smooth running of the operational team and will also be involved in staff training and development. You're main responsibility would be oversea the operational team providing them with what they require to meet customers needs and requirements. You will also provide assistance to the Assistant Manager with month end and reporting tasks. Other tasks include:

• Training new members of staff on how to handle ocean operations from start to end
• Running both Import and Export operations as supervisor, overseeing both modes of shipping
• A good understanding of CHIEF/CDS entries for Import and Export
• Can handle project/ad hoc cargo (Flat Racks, OOG) for both Export and Import
• Handling KPI's & maintaining customer profiles to ensure information is up to date to support
• Involved in testing and improving new internal systems which will improve work productivity
• Managing a team with over 10 members of staff to improve productivity and be a point of contact for any escalation or support where necessary

Experience required:

• Previous experience of Supervisory role within the freight forwarding industry
• Computer literate with basic knowledge of Excel, Word.
• Knowledge on AS400, Outlook and ASM Sequoia would be preferred.
• Good communication and motivational skills, with the approach to delegate and be able to lead by example and make decisions using sound judgement.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Understand requirements and operational procedures and be able to Identify areas that require Improvement/change/update.

Working hours Monday - Friday 0900 - 1730.
