Chester are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join a well-structured and dynamic team. The client offers a full-time contract with an opportunity to work from home, a fair and manageable caseload. The vacancy will be for an initial 3 - 6 months with potential for extension. The role is in the Community Access Team which is the front door team to adult social care. The team is multidisciplinary with Occupational Therapy and Social Work. Using an OT first model of practice with the aim of promoting independence and delaying or preventing the need for services.

Main Duties for the Occupational Therapist includes.

  • The role requires the completion of a variety of work including complex housing situations.
  • Screening for DFG's
  • Taking first enquiries regarding moving and handling.
  • Utilising reablement services, issuing equipment, minor adaptation work.
  • Utilising technology enabled care and any other tasks deemed appropriate by management.
  • Have an awareness of safeguarding and work as part of the MDT to ensure safety and risk management.
  • Working closely with our home care agencies to complete several assessments and reviews.
  • Providing expert advice, and assessments for equipment and home modifications.
  • Recommending adaptations.
  • Work autonomously and in liaison with Social Work colleagues to utilise their functional, moving and handling skills and knowledge of equipment to positively influence the care and support needs of our residents.
  • An awareness of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable people, plus an understanding of the importance of dignity & respect when dealing with people.

To Be Successful.

  • Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist in the community.
  • Previous experience working with major adaptations.
  • Manual handling experience.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Occupational Therapist Qualification.
