Hays have proudly partnered with an independent nursery to recruit for a nursery practitioner. The nursery offers an environment where the pupils can flourish and reach their full potential. Their calm and nurturing environment allows the pupils to develop their individual talents and a lifelong love for learning, all while becoming self-confident and competent young people. The nursery received an "outstanding" rating in their most recent inspection, with the report stating that, "children of all ages benefit from a nurturing and rich learning environment, wholly focused around each child's individual needs and abilities."

Your role as a Nursery Practitioner
As a Nursery Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing high quality care, safeguarding and wellbeing of young children whilst ensuring that all policies and procedures are implemented at all times. You will also ensure all the children's needs are met and have a proactive approach to planning and implementing activities for the children. Some of your other duties will include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
  • Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health, and safety standards are met.
  • Administering first aid when necessary.
  • Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
  • Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
  • Updating the children's learning journal on a daily basis with any relevant information.
  • Working within the framework of nursery's policies and procedures, and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Developing and maintaining good communication with all members of the preschool and parents.



What you will need to succeed in this Nursery Practitioner job

  • A minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Childcare
  • Experience of working with a key group
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures
  • Experience of the EYFS and using it within a nursery setting
  • Enthusiastic, passionate, and full of ideas to encourage learning and development
  • Hold the right to work in the UK
