Network Security Engineer

We're looking for a talented Network Security Engineer to join our dynamic client in London. If you're experienced and skilled in Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) technologies like Palo Alto Networks or Cisco Firepower, this role is perfect for you. As a vital part of our client’s networks team, you'll lead the charge in designing, implementing, and maintaining top-notch network security solutions, safeguarding our organization's infrastructure against ever-evolving cyber threats.

Responsibilities:

• NGFW Implementation and Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain Next-Generation Firewalls, specifically Palo Alto Networks or Cisco Firepower, to ensure the security of our client’s network perimeter. Utilise advanced features such as application-based policies, threat prevention, SSL decryption, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
• Network Security Architecture: Design and architect network security solutions that align with industry best practices and regulatory compliance requirements. Collaborate with other teams to integrate security controls seamlessly into the network infrastructure.
• Incident Response and Threat Mitigation: Monitor network traffic for security events and respond to security incidents in a timely manner. Conduct in-depth analysis of security alerts, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to mitigate threats.
• Security Policy Management: Develop and enforce network security policies to ensure compliance with internal security standards and regulatory mandates. Regularly review and update firewall rules, access control lists (ACLs), and security policies to maintain an effective security posture.
• Knowledge Sharing and Training: Stay informed about emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends. Share knowledge and expertise with team members through training sessions, workshops, and technical presentations.

Requirements:

• Certified Cisco Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) solutions, preferably Palo Alto Networks or Cisco Firepower.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols, TCP/IP stack, routing, and switching technologies.
• Proficiency in security technologies such as VPNs, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint security solutions.
• Experience working within an ITIL framework.
• Hands-on experience with security tools and platforms for monitoring, analysis, and incident response.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network security issues.
• Experience with cloud security solutions and architectures, particularly AWS or Azure.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
