The Role

The housing partnership are looking for multi-skilled trades people, initially on a 12-month fixed term contract, for both their Grimsby and Boston offices, who are passionate about their work and are focused on delivering a great service for their customers, promoting their Customer First Value.

The company envisage the successful candidates to become permanent members of the Repairs Team after this 12-month period.

You'll be given your own company vehicle, branded work clothes so that you can feel proud to represent LHP, and the tools that you need to complete your job.

The organisation are looking for customer focused multi-skilled trades people with core skills such as Roofing, Bricklaying and Plastering, to carry out general repairs, maintenance and refurbishment in their properties. They want those who take pride in carrying out day to day maintenance and repairs to their properties in accordance with the Repairs and Maintenance policy and Lettings Standards.

What will I be asked to do as Multi-Skilled Trades Person?

  • You will undertake inspection, repairs, maintenance, installation, improvement, alteration or other works as required to customers’ homes (whether occupied or void) and to their schemes, estates and other property assets as required as a part of the In-House Repairs Service.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures of the organisation and the operational and commercial targets set whilst putting the customer first.
  • To complete work in a number of building trades, including (but not limited to) carpentry, joinery, plumbing, bricklaying, roofing, plastering and ground working.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that all work has been carried out both effectively and efficiently.
  • To undertake as necessary works associated with major and minor new construction work, 1st fix, 2nd fix etc.
  • Undertaking any other duties appropriate to the post objectives as required by management (appropriate to the level of the post)
  • Responsible for maximising output and efficiency and minimising waste.
  • Responsible for ensuring van stock is maintained and used effectively.
  • Responsible for maintaining the core repairs system in relation to works carried out.
  • You will be required to be on call one week per month, attending out of hours emergency repairs.

What skills, attributes and experience will I need as a Multi-Skilled Trades Person?

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in any of the following trades, brickwork, painting, decorating, plumbing, tiling, joinery, plastering, roofing etc.
  • The ability to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the skills, technology and safety procedures required to carry out the full range of duties contained within the job description.
  • The ability to understand and interpret work instructions, drawings, and schematic drawings.
  • The ability to communicate on a one-to-one basis and produce information in a written form, including completion of necessary work documentation.
  • Must have a full valid driving license.
  • The ability to use PDA/iPad and other electronic communication devices.
  • Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent and/or a minimum of NVQ level 2 or its equivalent, i.e. relevant City and Guilds Basic Craft Certificate in one of the following skills: Joinery, Painting and decorating, Plumbing, Tiling, Flooring, Plastering, Bricklaying, Glazing, Roofing, Drainage and external works.
