About the Team

The Multi-Agency Partnership (MAP) is a co-located, multi-agency team consisting of Social Workers, Education Advisors, Police and 0-19 Public Health Nurses. Together we work in partnership to deliver the right help at the right time for our children, young people and families. The MAP is responsible for researching and analysing information about a child to understand the appropriate level of support required.

About the Role

As a MAP Officer you will be located within the Multi Agency Partnership team, which is where requests for support are received when it is unclear what level of need a request meets, as defined in our practical guidance called 'Effective Family Resilience'.

In this role you will carry out tasks to better understand requests for support referred to MAP when it is not clear if the request meets the threshold for early help support or statutory intervention by Social Work Teams. This role will include triage of contacts assigned by managers, speaking to families and identifying sources of early help support, as well as other tasks including supporting the consultation line, processing information requests and undertaking administrative tasks in the team.

Shortlisting Criteria

We're looking for someone with strong communication and IT skills, as well as a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and advice. This is a critical front-facing role where you will support the effective delivery of the right services at the right time for our children and their families. You will be operating in sometimes challenging and emotionally charged situations, therefore you must have the ability to communicate clearly, remain calm under pressure and deal with each request confidentially and in line with agreed timeframes.

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • An ability to communicate clearly in a respectful way with a broad range of individuals
  • A good level of IT literacy
  • An ability to understand and explain detailed processes and concepts
  • An ability to manage and prioritise your workload
  • Some understanding of working with children and young people and the issues they face

The job advert closes at 23:59 on Sunday 7th April 2024 with interviews planned for Friday 12th April 2024.

Our Commitment

Surrey County Council is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer. A guaranteed interview will be offered to all disabled applications where:

  • The candidate has evidenced the minimum criteria for the role through their application
  • The candidate has chosen to share that they have a disability on the application form

Our application form and onboarding process will provide an opportunity to request any reasonable adjustments for the interview and/or the role.

We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all underrepresented groups.
