JOB SPECIFICATION

Job purpose:

Work with closely with wider Team to ensure maximum profitability and minimise the cost and risk of a construction project and enhance value for money while still achieving legal standards and quality. Provide guidance and support to rest of project finance team, continually review processes to ensure maximum efficiency and act as role model to whole Team.

Key Responsibilities

- Accurately and thoroughly compare subcontract prices, and work with the Contracts Manager to select the most suitable for each project.

- Maintain correct financial control of all projects to ensure target margin is achieved or improved upon.

- Value and certify subcontract work, overseeing invoices and applications for payment as well as arranging payments.

- Produce valuations and applications for payment to the client - raising client invoices when agreed.

- Identify opportunities for Value Engineering to improve margin and programme, and to reduce risk.

- Network and develop relationships with key consultants and architects, with a view to generating new business.

- Network and develop relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to develop a diverse supply chain.

- To constantly review policies, practices and procedures to ensure continual improvement in our offering.

- Understanding the client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies to ensure their proposals will work.

- Maintain awareness of different building contracts.

- Ensure timely cost and value reporting to ensure accurate cashflow reporting takes place.

- Cost management including forecasting.

- Reconciliation of CVR’s.

- Attend site meetings, control change and obtain/provide variation confirmations.

- Correctly apply the terms of the main contract including all notices, confirmations and authorities.

- Provide guidance and mentorship to rest of project finance team.

Role Requirements

• Degree or HNC/HND educated in Surveying would be advantageous
• A professional qualification accredited by the Royal Institute for Chartered Surveyors would be advantageous
• 2 years’ experience in a Pre-Contracts background or a Contracts Manager/Quantity Surveyor, preferably in commercial design & build fit-out
• Proven experience of cost planning with a skill set to value engineer a design
• Solid working knowledge of construction
• Successful track record of yielding high profits

• Team focused and able to communicate effectively across all levels
• Strong negotiation skills with commercial awareness

• Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical disciplines
• A good knowledge of JCT contracts & current building regulations
• A clear understanding of HSE Building Regulations and legal guidelines
• Full and ideally clean driving licence
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
