You'll be working with British Gypsum in Brightling Mine, East Sussex. British Gypsum is the UK's leading manufacturer of interior lining systems.

What you'll do:

  • Respond to break down situations of the production machines in the mine.
  • Assist with and carry out the installation and maintenance of rock handling equipment to efficiently support production operations.
  • Assist and carry out the maintenance & installation of Mine district services.
  • Assist and carry out the maintenance & installation of Mine District mechanical and ventilation schemes in accordance with the mine plan.
  • Assist with and carry out the planning and preparation of mine maintenance to minimise downtime.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on diesel-powered mining and construction equipment and machinery.
  • Be required to complete end of shift reporting to the company standard.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in the maintenance of heavy plant equipment and production machinery (ideally in a mining or quarry setting).
  • Experience of hydraulic systems and Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably in a mining, construction, or heavy plant equipment environment.
  • A recognised mechanical apprenticeship or technical certification with relevant qualifications in diesel mechanics or a related field (Minimum requirement Level 3).
  • Knowledge of Risk assessment process and able to carry out dynamic on the job risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of LOTO systems.
  • Willingness to work a staggered shift pattern that includes day, afternoon & may include night shift and some weekend working.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Good knowledge of plant/machine hydraulic & electrical systems.
