Any previous experience in a precision engineering environment, manufacturing components and parts for the Automotive, Commercial Vehicle, Materials Handling, Construction or Agricultural sector either OEM or 1st/2nd Tier supplier would be advantageous.
 
BASIC SALARY: £37,440 starting basic salary

JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
This is a classic production Mig Welder role, working in a 4-5 person cell team or leading a cell team depending on experience, manufacturing up to 1000 part numbers across both UK and International OEM clients.
 
You will be confident reading engineering drawings and your day to day responsibilities will include :
· Set, operate and maintain the Mig and Tig Welding machines and related tools and equipment
· MIG Welding with mild steel
· Read and interpret engineering drawings in order to lay out a welding project
· Test and inspect welded surfaces to ensure compliance with customer's specifications
· Use measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to inspect the parts
· Diagnose issues and troubleshoot as and when required
· Some general fabrication duties such as cutting and smoothing metal components, using plasma cutters, portable grinders, etc., bore holes through metal workpieces using a drill press
· Meet production deadlines
 
PERSON SPECIFICATION:  
 
· Mig welding experience in mild steel - Bench, JIG, Production, Fabrication 
· Previously worked with metal thicknesses of between 1mm - 20mm 
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately - understanding weld symbols 
· Ability to work to strict time constraints and produce products to the highest standard, in line with customer demand
· Positive 'can do' attitude
· Excellent time-keeping and attendance
