Job Title: Mental Health Practitioner

Grade: Band 6 or 7

Trust: South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust

Location: Christopher Wren House, Croydon, CR0 1QG (Hybrid working is permitted but some presence is required in office)

Hours: Monday - Friday 9.00am - 17.00pm

About the Trust:

The South London & Maudsley NHS Trust provides a full range of mental health services to people of Southwark, Lewisham, Lambeth, and Croydon as well as substance misuse services for people in Bexley, Greenwich, and Bromley. The Trust provides specialist services to people from across the UK.

It has approximately 4,800 staff and a budget of £300 million. The trust also works closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London and are part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre. There are very few organisations in the world that have such wide-ranging capabilities working with mental illness. Their scope is unique because it is built on three major foundations: care and treatment, science and research, and training.

To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

  • Knowledge of conditions and challenges facing young people is a must as well and Neurodevelopmental presentations.
  • Need to have a core profession (i.e be a qualified nurse, social worker, OT - registered appropriate body. Registration number to be provided)

In addition to experience, all Qualified roles will be required to provide evidence of:

  • Relevant Qualifications
  • Registration with the relevant Registration Body

Role responsibilities:

Applicants will be required to triage referrals coming into Croydon CAMHS. They will also be given support to signpost or redirect referrals if they do not meet threshold for the service.

Triage will involve looking through referrals, contacting the families if needed and gathering further information. It will also include discussing complex cases with senior staff to ensure best decisions are made so applicants must be able to formulate cases as well as have experience of assessment and triage preferably of you
