Media and Arts Technician

  • To start ASAP until May half term (potential to extend)
  • Part-time position working 3 days a week
  • Leicester-based sixth form college


To support teaching and learning in the department, provide oversight of equipment and materials, and offer technical support to students.

Job Description:

  • Regularly inspect machinery and equipment as directed by the Senior Technician.
  • Provide technical support to students during project work.
  • Show students how to use machinery and equipment safely.
  • Assist with organising and safely storing materials related to the curriculum.
  • Responsible for cleaning specialised equipment according to instructions from the Curriculum Area Leader.
  • Assist teaching staff with photocopying and printing tasks as needed

Requirements:

  • Previous work experience in a visual arts setting.
  • A solid understanding of wood and metal working processes.
  • A good standard of general education, including achieving at least a GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • Confidence and competence in using IT within a working environment.
  • Ability to respond and communicate with others
