Role: Mechanical Maintenance Lead Engineer
Hours: Monday to Friday Days Only - 8 Hours - Earlies & Lates covering 6am - 6pm

Salary: £45,000 to £47,500 per annum + Bonus, Matched Contributory Pension, 27 Days Holiday + BH’s, Benefits
Location: Commutable from Grimsby, Barton-upon-Humber, Brigg, Scunthorpe, Doncaster, Immingham, Market Rasen, Gainsborough and surrounding areas

A heavy plant manufacturing company who offer challenging and rewarding careers for their large team of Mechanical Maintenance Engineers & Mechanical Fitters. Through continued growth they are now seeking a mechanical Lead Engineer with experience of planning ie. PPM schedules & engineering projects. With a committed maintenance team, combined with your engineering planning abilities, the Lead Engineer will oversee and co-ordinate the successful delivery of a variety of projects leading to sustained improvements in production and site efficiencies across the short, medium & longer term.

Very much a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineering role, the Lead Engineer will broadly divide their time 65% undertaking hands-on work and 35% leading and co-ordinating work & the team.

You must enjoy getting your hands dirty, be comfortable working within a heavy production environment, excel in planning engineering - ie. PPM, installations, major projects etc and be able to share your improvement ideas and suggestions with the maintenance and leadership teams.

Skills & Qualifications:

The mechanical maintenance Lead Engineer must be qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar), either via an apprenticeship or through college or similar - Level 3 or higher.

The Lead Engineer must be an experienced mechanical maintenance professional within Production/Manufacturing environments, ideally with some Supervisor or Team Leader experience, although this isn’t essential.

The key for success in this exciting role is demonstrable skills & ability in Planning and Co-ordinating engineering works - this planning experience could be from engineering projects, leading and planning work for a team, developing PPM schedules and reporting etc, or something similar.

Will be skilled across some or more of the following: bearings, seals, fitting & aligning motors, pumps, gears, belts, chains, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding (Mig/Arc).

Able to undertaking & supervise Planned Preventative Maintenance as well as reacting to break downs and stoppages across a range of equipment and machinery.

Planning & co-ordinating shut-downs, project work, new installations, refurbishing machines and replacing broken or worn parts. Much of the production machinery is large and heavy so you will have good understanding of H&S and how to work safely with heavy plant.

Diagnostics experience of hydraulics, pneumatics and drive chain fault finding is useful

Ability to think outside the box and help with continuous improvements, offering long term solutions to problems is highly beneficial

Proactive attitude towards work & people, able to work well with the teams
