Pure are delighted to be partnering with a leading supplier of bespoke machinery to the manufacturing industry both here in the UK and world-wide. They have experienced continued organic growth, and due this success they are now seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter on a permanent basis.

Your role would be to support the Manufacturing department, building special purpose assembly and test machines to a high standard. You will be well-versed in understanding general assembly, technically detailed, and fluid schematic drawings. Being  organized and results-driven with great problem-solving skills, you will have advanced mechanical assembly skills.

Other duties within this role will include;
•         Building to a high standard within budget.
•         Reporting to and supporting supervisors.
•         Discussing any changes and design issues with Engineering.
•         Powering on machines and supporting the software commissioning engineers.
•         Maintaining a tidy working area

The ideal applicant will possess the following skills;
•         Proven experience in mechanical fitting, having served an apprenticeship or trained under a recognised scheme in a related trade such as fitting, toolmaking, instrument making etc.
•         Proficient in reading and working to general arrangement drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
•         Background in machine tool build process, the use of tools and equipment to build machinery from drawings and schematics.
•         Good understanding of limits and fits, able to recognise when a movement or location is satisfactory.
•         Great understanding of mechanisms, new or old, and be capable of identifying a fault or issue that may render a mechanism inoperable.
•         Always looking for ways to enhance, improve or innovate.
•         Good understanding of the use of measuring equipment, both metric and imperial, in order to set up fixtures or check assemblies for correct critical dimensions.
•         Used to working within fine tolerances and achieve high standards of geometric compliance associated with the industry.
•         Good knowledge of machining processes and competent in turning, drilling, reaming, surface grinding, welding, gas cutting, fabrication and workshop practices.
•         Skilled in the use of lifting equipment such as slings, types of slinging, and general crane safety.
•         A good working knowledge of pipe and pipe fittings, both parallel and tapered, Be able to mount and pipe hydraulic and pneumatic circuit elements, in both hard and soft pipe.
•         Good basic knowledge of engineering adhesives, sealants, lubricants, standard locking and dowelling systems.
•         Be prepared to work within and adhere to the company quality systems codes of practice and work instructions.
•         Process driven.
•         Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
•         A self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision.
•         Proficient in Microsoft 365, with Project as an advantage.
•         Automotive industry (Ford, JLR) experience would be an advantage.

This is a full time, permanent position working a 37.5hr working week, Monday to Friday with an early finish on Fridays. There will also be overtime opportunities. The position is paying a competitive salary and has an immediate start for the right applicant.
