Our client is a leading mechanical building services company dedicated to providing innovative solutions in the design and installation of mechanical systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.

To continue their level of project excellence, they require an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.

Key Experience: Mechanical Building Services Design

Position Overview:

As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and engineering mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, for a variety of building projects. From concept through implementation, the Mechanical Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in delivering cost-effective and sustainable solutions that meet client requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities - Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and calculations to determine appropriate mechanical system designs based on building specifications, codes, and regulations.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp) to illustrate system components and configurations.
  • Select and specify appropriate equipment, materials, and components for mechanical systems, ensuring compatibility, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform heat load calculations, ductwork sizing, pipe sizing, and other technical calculations to optimise system performance and energy efficiency.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including equipment schedules, specifications, and construction drawings, to support project bids and proposals.
  • Conduct design reviews and collaborate with internal teams to address any issues or modifications throughout the design process.
  • Stay current with advancements in mechanical engineering technologies, codes, and standards to ensure designs are innovative, compliant, and efficient.
  • Support project implementation by providing technical guidance, resolving design-related issues, and participating in site visits as needed.

Position Requirements - Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering/Building Services Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design engineering within the building services industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp) and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems design principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
