Mechanical Design Engineer
Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a manufacturer based on the outskirts of Leeds to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Mechanical Design Engineer will contribute towards the development of the next generation of machines.
Our client is looking for someone who has experience working in an innovative environment and providing innovative solutions whilst evaluating technical requirements and providing viable solutions.
Duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer include:
- Provide a high level of commercial awareness to ensure design solutions are delivered in the most cost effective manner
- Ensure schedules are understood and workload is managed
- Effectively communicate project status to the Technical Manager, customers and suppliers;
- Play a proactive role in the department’s continuous improvement programme;
- Mentor Mechanical Designers to ensure the quality of the department design output
- Provide technical input during project design review meetings;
- Apply technical due diligence by being process risk aware and applying FMEA, design studies and POP
- Ensure relevant design documents are issued in line with the schedule
- Ensure that design quality is maintained throughout the project
- Perform the role of technical support in collaboration with the Technical Manager
We would be keen to speak with Mechanical Design Engineers with the following skills:
- Apprentice trained in Mechanical or Mechatronic Design Engineering.
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
- Proficient in the use of 3D design software
- Strong knowledge of mechanical parts and computer-aided design
- Ability to prioritise work within tight timescales
