Mechanical Design Engineer

Elevation Recruitment Group and working with a leading engineering business in West Yorkshire to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client is a turnkey Engineering business who design, develop and manufacture bespoke machinery for material handling, heavy processing, recycling and power generation environments.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will design and detail bespoke machinery, carry out calculations and analysis and  ensure compliance with indiustry standards and machinery directives.

Duties will include:

• Liaise with customers to understand requirements and develop technical specifications
• Creating plant layout drawings including foundation and loading details
• Design, 3D model and detail individual components, sub-assemblies and overall machine assemblies
• Carry out design calculations and FEA 
• Conduct design risk assessments, FMEA/FMECA to comply with standards and directives
• Assisting the production team with technical quries and make adjustment where required
• Maintain adequate records in accordance with the business's quality assurance system.
• Liaise with equipment suppliers and purchasing department 
• Seek out new product design technologies and techniques that support continuous improvement
• Train and mentor Design Office personnel as and when requested by your line manager.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experiences:

• HND or Degree Qualified in a Mechanical Engineering discipline 
• Background in bespoke machinery design (crushers, presses, conveyors, rotating equipment etc.)
• Skilled user of 3D CAD packages such as SolidWorks, Inventor or Solid edge
• Familiar with Machinery Directive
• Able to carry out engineering caluclations and analysis
• Knowledge of Hydraulic systems would be advantageous
