Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer, with FEA experience, looking to step into a senior and progressive role where you will form an integral part of a technically advanced and rapidly growing business, helping to develop new and innovative solutions used in electricity generation, transmissions and distribution, supplying across Europe, the Middle East and Asia?

Are you looking to fully utilise your skills in a pivotal role which will directly contribute towards the growth of a well-established business, developing products for new market applications, specifically focusing on industrial and automotive markets, whilst operating as part of a dedicated and highly skilled team, benefiting from the ability to continuously train and develop your skills further?

The company area highly reputable manufacturer, leading the way in the design and manufacture of high power electrical resistors, and they are currently looking to expand within the automotive and industrial sectors. They currently exceed £10 million turnover, with 90 employees, supplying to OEM's and end users throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Their products have a diverse range of applications, including power resistors for power quality, and neutral earthing for MV and HV network systems.

They are currently experiencing increasing demand for their products, therefore seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the engineering team with the design of electrical equipment. This will include the use of finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics software.

The role:

  • Perform mechanical, fluid dynamics and thermal analysis to verify and enhance designs using both manual calculation and multi-physics simulation finite element analysis software (Ansys)
  • Research and development including product testing
  • Take a lead role in the development of a specific new product line (load bank technology) working closely with the R&D department to specify, plan and oversee product testing
  • Contribute, as part of a wider team, in the collating and submission of PPAP documentation and support the quality department in the APQP application
  • Produce engineering drawings and supporting documentation (Bills of materials etc.)
  • Conduct technical investigations, develop and maintain appropriate design and support processes, carrying out root cause analysis and initiating corrective action as necessary
  • Train other colleagues in FEA
