Vehicle Mechanic

Location: St Albans

Job Type: Permanent, full time 
Hours:  Monday - Friday 8-5

Our well established, growing client within the automotive industry are on the lookout for a Vehicle Mechanic to join their team in St Albans to service customer vehicles but also their own fleet of vehicles. You will be required to work on both diesel and petrol vehicles on both cars and vans.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and repair vehicles
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues
• Conduct inspections and perform preventative maintenance
• Repair or replace faulty components, such as fuel systems, electrical systems and exhaust systems
• Use power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment to complete repairs
• Read and interpret schematics to understand engine specifications
• Assemble and disassemble engines for repair or maintenance
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed

Requirements for Vehicle Mechanic:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a mechanic 
• Proficient in using power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and components
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals
• Experience with welding and fabrication techniques
• Familiarity with heavy lifting procedures and safety
