MDU Cable Engineer

OCU are currently looking for an experienced self motivated and driven MDU Cable Engineer. You will be based in the field working within our Openreach MDU Build Teams. You will play a vital role in ensuring we deliver quality, accurate and efficient cabling within multi dwelling unit sites, ensuring that all addresses are fed and live ready for the residents to take up the Openreach Fibre service. We are looking for teams of two’s to complete builds weekly at a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out Openreach builds autonomously according to the job packs, under the general direction of the Site Supervisors while providing feedback and updates to the office as and when required.
• Openreach pit lifting, node testing and splicing.
• Openreach incoming fibre cable pulling, labelling, and securing.
• Fibre splicing and testing of basement boxes, FDPs and POEs.
• Complete builds to agreed specifications and time scales.
• Working together as a team to a high standard, effectively, efficiently, and tidily.
• Ensure that all works taken place comply with Openreach guidelines, method statements and codes of practice.
• Post-Build Completion pictures to be taken and shared with the project team.

Skills & Experience

• Experience within the MDU/Fibre Build arena
• Experience within the Openreach One Fibre network/FTTP installations techniques and tool.
• Smart Awards/NOPs Card
• MT003
• SA001, SA002, K8, N29, N23, SA007 or Equivalent & SA020
• NRSWA Operative accreditation (Unit 2 Signing, Lighting & Guarding)
• Safe working practices and Gas testing
• Experience with Fibre cable pulling, splicing and testing/ network design maps and schematics
• Experience working within residential areas and multi dwelling units
• Ability to take direction from management and execute build works in an efficient manner
• Effective and professional communication skills with quality teamwork
