GSL Education are looking for a Mathematics Teacher for one of our SEN schools in Basingstoke. The Maths Teacher must adhere to the national curriculum and use a variety of teaching methods to ensure all students are able to learn effectively. As a member of the Mathematics department, you will play a crucial role and work closely with the Head of Faculty. The school values the teaching of fundamental skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving with a touch of creativity, which are integral to its ethos and expected from its staff.

Key responsibilities and tasks:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver Mathematics lessons that align with the national curriculum and meet the needs of individual students.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods, such as lectures, group work, and practical experiments, to engage students and support their learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress through regular assessments, homework assignments, and tests.
  • Provide feedback to students and parents on their academic progress, including identifying areas for improvement and strategies for success.
  • Use technology and other resources to enhance the learning experience for students.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, such as math Olympiads, clubs, science fairs, and field trips, to further engage and inspire students.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop and implement school-wide programs and initiatives.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or a related field.
  • Teaching certification or qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS).
  • Prior experience teaching Science to school students.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • DBS on Updated Service

  • Ability to create engaging and informative lesson plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Passionate about teaching Science and inspiring students to learn.
