Job Title: Secondary Mathematics Teacher

Location: Watford

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary Mathematics Teacher to join our vibrant school community. As a key member of our mathematics department, you will inspire students to develop a deep understanding and appreciation for mathematics, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary for success both in their academic pursuits and in their future careers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Delivery:

    • Plan and deliver engaging and challenging mathematics lessons that align with the school's curriculum and examination board requirements.
    • Differentiate instruction to cater to the diverse learning needs and abilities of students, ensuring all learners are appropriately challenged and supported.
    • Integrate real-world applications and problem-solving activities to demonstrate the relevance and practicality of mathematical concepts.
  2. Assessment and Progress Tracking:

    • Implement a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies to evaluate student understanding and progress.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their learning and academic growth.
    • Analyze assessment data to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement, adjusting teaching strategies accordingly.
  3. Classroom Management:

    • Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and collaboration.
    • Set clear expectations for behavior and academic performance, consistently reinforcing high standards of conduct and effort.
    • Foster a culture of respect, responsibility, and mutual support among students, promoting a safe and supportive learning environment.
  4. Curriculum Development and Enhancement:

    • Contribute to the development and review of the mathematics curriculum, incorporating best practices and innovative teaching methodologies.
    • Stay abreast of developments in mathematics education, including changes to curriculum standards and assessment requirements.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, ideas, and effective teaching strategies, fostering a culture of professional growth and collaboration within the department.
  5. Parental Engagement:

    • Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers regarding student progress, academic achievements, and areas for improvement.
    • Provide opportunities for parental involvement in their child's mathematics education, including parent workshops, curriculum nights, and open-door policies for communication.
    • Address parental concerns and inquiries in a professional and timely manner, demonstrating a commitment to partnership and collaboration.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching mathematics at the secondary level, with a strong understanding of the relevant curriculum and examination specifications.
  • Excellent knowledge of mathematical concepts and pedagogical strategies, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to students of varying abilities.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a supportive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for enhancing teaching practice and student outcomes.
