Maths Teacher

Location: Reading
Salary: £30,000-£41,333 + SEN Allowance
Hours: 35 hours per week, term time only + 5 inset days

Our client has an exceptional school in Reading for young people with an Education Healthcare Plan (EHCP) for young with Autism spectrum Conditions and other associated complex needs. The school opened in 2023 and has beautiful facilities that will support learners from year 1-13.

Duties to include but not limited to:

  • To plan, resource and deliver highly effective and inspiring lessons as per the allocated timetable.
  • To participate in a designated tutor team, leading highly effective tutor periods.
  • To ensure that students make exceptional progress and achieve excellent academic results.
  • To work with colleagues to design engaging and challenging schemes of work and lessons.
  • To establish and maintain discipline in all aspect of their work and support others in the school to do so.
  • To contribute to the effective working of the school and the Trust (including implementing all policies fully).
  • To conduct themselves with professionalism and integrity at all times, acting with the best interests of the students in the Trust at all times.
  • To ensure they are prepared for Ofsted inspections and any other benchmarking or assessment visits.

Education, skills and knowledge:

• Qualified Teacher Status
• PGCE
•Experience Teaching Maths
• Evidence of successful teaching and classroom practice, monitoring and assessing pupil; progress.
• A good knowledge and understanding of the Key Stage 3 and 4 National Curriculum.
• Experience or working with ASDAN or BTech qualifications to support students.
• Experience of following and implementing the national exam syllabus and adapting this for our students.
• Experience of working with children with ASD and associated complex difficulties.
• Experience of multi-agency working.
• Good/outstanding teacher.
• Knowledge and understanding of how children with ASD and associated complex difficulties may learn and what strategies are needed in order to ensure they access the curriculum.
• Knowledge and understanding of effective behaviour management techniques/strategies/intervention.
• Comprehensive understanding of assessment and profiling.
• Understanding of quality of provision and assessment to support learning.
• Understanding of inclusive practice to support learning.
• Knowledge and understanding of a range of factors that may impede learning in relation to the child’s SEN needs and behaviour.
