Location: Bromley Civic Centre/Flexible Working

Salary: up to £69,904 plus excellent benefits

Main Purpose: The Group Manager (MASH) will maintain, manage, and supervise a team of operational staff, including Team Managers, to deliver a quality service. Committed to the department's purpose and value statement, the Group Manager will ensure that services provided within the Children & Families Hub and Referral & Assessment team embrace the objectives of joined-up working and meet divisional and departmental goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight and Day-to-Day Management:

  • Lead a high-performing team in delivering Early Help and Social Work services.
  • Ensure efficient decision-making processes for managing contacts and referrals.
  • Implement a partnership approach to manage contacts and referrals for children in need.
  • Uphold Bromley's Thresholds of Need and Practice Standards.
  • Provide leadership to Team Managers and social workers.

Risk Management:

  • Manage risks associated with safeguarding decisions and processes.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure robust decision-making.
  • Offer support and challenge to colleagues and partner agencies.

Collaboration:

  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with relevant agencies.
  • Represent the local authority at multi-agency forums and meetings.
  • Facilitate multi-agency meetings and information sharing sessions.

Managing Finances & Resources:

  • Manage budgets for staff and service provision.
  • Assess and agree on service priorities and developments.
  • Recruit, deploy, and appraise staff performance.

Managing Communications and Information:

  • Chair statutory meetings and represent the Division in meetings with external agencies.
  • Prepare and present reports on relevant matters.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and practice.

Corporate Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the Children and Families Division business planning process.
  • Attend Council and other appropriate meetings as required.
  • Ensure implementation of equal opportunities policies and statutory responsibilities.

Person Specification:

  • At least 3 years experience in a Social Work management position
  • Proven numerical and budget monitoring skills.
  • Strong planning, organizing, and resource management abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and ability to drive change.
  • Proficiency in workload management and promoting equal opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Registered Social Worker with relevant qualifications, experience and registration (SWE)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality social care services.
