Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) has an exciting opportunity available for a Marketing Strategist to join our team in Maidstone. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £30,164 - £34,061 with additional on-call payment of £3,684.95 per annum.

Being a Marketing Strategist

As a Marketing Strategist, you will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and make a difference to people’s safety through effective digital marketing and creative social media content.

You’ll be driven by evidence-based strategies and be confident in presenting marketing recommendations and rationale for a wide variety of projects - including fire prevention campaigns, employer identity, firefighter recruitment drives, and much more. You’ll execute digital marketing tactics with a high level of technical knowledge and creative skill.

Running KFRS’ social media channels, creating content, engaging with followers, and reaching new audiences, will be central to your role.

What you'll do:

  • Advise on marketing strategy for a wide variety of campaigns and projects, with an evidence-based and analytical approach
  • Execute marketing plans and tactics with a high level of technical knowledge and skill
  • Advise on, and assist with, the implementation of an SEO strategy to enhance website engagement
  • Set the paid and organic strategy for all KFRS’ social media channels and run all platforms – including during emergency incidents
  • Produce content plans and produce engaging content independently using an iPhone, and in collaboration with design colleagues
  • Assist the press office team as required during busy periods and be part of the out of hours press officer on-call rota one week in every six
  • Work three days minimum per week working at KFRS HQ (hybrid working)

What you'll bring:

  • Degree level or equivalent in marketing, or at least five years’ experience in a busy marketing/communications team or agency
  • Experience creating and implementing marketing strategies, with a high level of technical knowledge and proven results
  • Experience running multiple social media channels and creating content for a variety of platforms – paid and organic
  • Experience using a defined brand
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience using effective storytelling to reach people in different ways
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone of voice for different channels and audiences with ease
  • The ability to stay calm and think clearly in a fast-moving, high-pressured environment
  • The ability to be flexible in changing situations
  • The ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
