Role - Manufacturing Engineering SME Consultant

Type - Fixed Term Contract (FTC)

Length - 18 Months (Extension Likely)

Salary - £80,000 + Package

Location - Bath, Manchester, Leeds

Working Pattern - Hybrid (2-3 days a week in office + up to 50% international travel)

Altum are currently working with a British FTSE 250 manufacturing organisation that is renowned for creating a number of components & equipment pieces. A UK brand originally, they now have a global footprint, with offices around Europe.

The company have been growing exponentially, and have been involved in a number of acquisitions. As such they now have a large number of systems and processes that need consolidating. As such, they have recently started their group-wide implementation of Dynamics 365 in a programme set to last 3 years. Microsoft themselves have touted it as one of the system's biggest implementations!

The transformation & operations team have outlined that they are in need of SME support in the form of a Manufacturing/Engineering Consultant. This role will require a deep understanding of the manufacturing engineering management, and will provide technical & functional leadership to Factory manufacturing engineers. They will also serve as a link between operations, IT and the implementation itself.

This role offers great global exposure, including up to 50% international travel!

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the IT department to translate manufacturing needs in the logistics & warehouse functional area into system configuration requirements for the new D365 ERP.
  • Perform GAP Analysis and execute a programme to remove gaps and inefficiencies prior to system deployment.
  • Analyse current operations processes, identify inefficiencies, and document requirements.
  • Deliver continuous improvement of existing supply chain processes alongside the Global Process Owners, business analysts and Enterprise Architects.
  • Ensure Business Processes are aligned to both the Target Operating Model and the upcoming implementation.
  • Serve as a collaborative link between the Manufacturing Engineering Space, the Operations department as a whole and other functions of the business, especially IT.
  • Provide change management to users & Super Users, including workshops, questionnaires and process standardisation to take them on the change journey.
  • Support coordination of operations cutover activities for factory sites & govern site readiness for sites in transition.

Desired Experience:

  • Ideally at least 5 years in the manufacturing / engineering sector.
  • High level of working knowledge in Health, Safety & Environmental legislation and application in manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of engineering packages such as Solid Edge & LabVIEW.
  • Experience in similar large programmes or implementations in complex businesses, ideally in the context of a new ERP.
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment while still keeping order and maintaining process.
  • Experience in change management in a complex transformation.
  • 3-5 years working in End-to-End supply chain management roles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams and be a link between departments.
  • A degree level education in an engineering discipline is desirable but not necessary.
